Attended Emory University for both law and medical degrees. Chaired the
President's Commission on Mental Health from 1977-1980. Serves as President
of the Aspirin Foundation of America, Chair of the Rosalynn Carter Institute
for Human Development, Board Member of the Hospice Foundation of America, Inc.,
and Board Member of the Jennifer Jones Simon Foundation. He is an active member
of the Institutes of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
